About the Executives
Michael Strong, Partner
Michael Strong has been an active member of the Lubbock community since his time as a student at Texas Tech.
Before graduating in 2003 with a degree in Management Information Systems, Michael worked his way through school as a Senior Network Engineer at a Lubbock and Dallas based internet service provider. In 2002, along with co-founder Jeromy Mallory, he created the company that would become Blue Layer.
Using a business model based on great customer service and fair pricing, they started LocalLINUX, Inc. with a mission to provide West Texas companies with Right-Sized technology services. As demand for “Right-Size IT” services grew, Local Linux was re-branded as Blue Layer to better address the many landscapes of technology. Specializing in Managed Services, Outsourced IT, Security, Networking and Monitoring; Blue Layer offers its customers comprehensive technology solutions designed to fit their needs. In recent years Blue Layer has been honored with several awards including “Best of Lubbock” and three years in a row named to America’s “Top 501 Managed Service Provider’s” in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Also in 2016, Blue Layer was dubbed KCBD’s “Best of the West” for Computer Repair and Sales.
When he’s not working to provide customers with the best technology solutions, Michael continues to remain active in the Texas Tech Athletics Department where he has been the head sports photographer for over 10 years. During his free time, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife Jessica and their three children. Together they support several charities including March of Dimes, the NICU unit at Covenant Hospital and the American Cancer Society.
Jeromy Mallory, Partner
Jeromy Mallory is proud of his Lubbock roots. Born and raised in the Hub City, he continues to appreciate the sense of community and friendship that is unique to West Texas.
Although his love for animals led him to start his undergraduate career at Texas Tech by studying Veterinary Medicine, it didn’t take long for Jeromy to realize that his true passion was for helping people work more efficiently through technology. He changed his major and focused on gaining expertise in the technology field. By the time he graduated from Texas Tech in 2000, he had already secured a position as Head Systems and Network Administrator for NTS Communications.
In 2002, after years of taking support calls from local IT providers asking him questions about proper configuration or needing him to fix equipment for their customers, Jeromy along with the other founders of Blue Layer decided it was time for a better Managed Services provider. They began with the goal to provide businesses with knowledgeable, experienced IT support and consulting. As the company evolved to eventually become Blue Layer, Jeromy made it a priority to keep up with advancing technology. He currently specializes in Virtualization, Systems Engineering and Network Engineering.
When he’s not working, Jeromy stays active by practicing Jiu Jitsu and archery several times a week. He also spends time with his wife Candice and their two boys. As a family, they are active in their church community and Sunday school program.
